Rico's Reach - Help Sponsor MDD CHAMP!
Rico’s Reach focuses on raising awareness about the landmine issue and sponsoring a mine detection dog (MDD) named CHAMP. In light of the Marshall Legacy Institute's 26th Anniversary, Rico's campaign will celebrate MLI's mission to create a mine free world with a campaign for a new MDD named in honor of one of our longest-standing programs.
MDD CHAMP will be named for MLI's Children Against Mines Program (CHAMPS). 50 of MLI’s 300 sponsored MDDs were donated by students in the U.S. through the CHAMPS program. As our K9 Ambassador, MDD Rico’s job is to demonstrate the work of mine detection dogs and share the impact landmines have on the youth in mine-affected countries. A mine detection dog named “CHAMP” will honor the CHAMPS program, the impact youth can have on their global peers, and the important work Rico is doing with the program.
In addition to sponsoring CHAMP, Rico’s Reach has the goal to give presentations in as many states as possible. Already, Rico has provided presentations and demonstrations to 15 different schools and organizations bringing awareness to more than 5000 people in Connecticut, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Vermont. Help us extend Rico's Reach, teaching students across the U.S. about the important work of mine detection dogs and their role in making the world safer for all.
