Texans for a Landmine-Free World: Azerbaijan

Texas for a Landmine-Free World is a remarkable fundraiser supporting Azerbaijan's mission of creating a landmine-free country. Landmines are devastating weapons that seriously threaten innocent civilians: children and the elderly. The fundraiser aims to raise awareness about the issue and gather resources to clear landmines, ensuring the safety and well-being of the people in Azerbaijan.

The Center of Excellence for Community Services and the Azerbaijan-American Music Foundation – Texas-based non-profit organizations organized a campaign event on Sunday, October 8, 2023, in Carrollton, Texas, raising over $23,000 in funds to sponsor a mine detection dog for Azerbaijan.

To achieve this goal, they contacted the Marshal Legacy Institute (MLI) - a non-profit organization well-known for the Mine Detection Dog Partnership Program (MDDPP). This program utilizes donations to purchase, train, and deliver Mine Detection Dogs (MDDs) to landmine removal organizations, such as ANAMA in Azerbaijan. (Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action). The campaign aims to raise $25,000 to cover the entire cost, from training to delivery of the dog to Azerbaijan, a goal they have nearly reached!

Texans for a Landmine-Free World establishes a strong bond between Texas and Azerbaijan, showing that compassion and humanitarianism know no borders. Whether through financial contributions or spreading the word, each Texan has the power to make a difference and contribute to this worthy cause.

Let's join hands and work towards a landmine-free world for the people of Azerbaijan. Help the Texas for a Landmine Free World campaign cross the finish line in raising the $25,000 to sponsor a mine detection dog!
